Her name was Carmella
She was desired by all the fellahs
Often she played In fields of poinsettias
On her shoulder
A tattoo of a blue butterfly
She only wore a summer dress
With hand painted train wreck silhouettes
A tiny bell of silver
Jingled from her small toe
Behind her ears
She always wore perfume from a rose
She burned many candles And many colors of wax Were often on her sandals
Late at night Where she would go Nobody did know But it was sure to be Where she was free
One bright day Everybody thought she disappeared Nobody could find her anywhere
To our relief she had been in the garden And only impossible to see
Because of all the flowers in her hair
On her last night upon this earth
She was amidst the moon's glow And trees shadows
When an eagle made of stars Came and took her away
Some say its myth
Some say its legend
But since that night all agree Her amethyst eyes
Upon onyx skies
Is sheer heaven
