Life is brief on the high seas
I should know
I've been on board
Since I was as tall as my father's tattooed knees
So let me say
Every pirate's heart is made of stolen gold
Without whiskey their blood is cold
Should they grow old, glacier cold are their souls
They are not a pretty lot
Many an arm leg and eye they have not
But their spirits are as strong as Spanish sails
And their wills as mighty as El Ninos gales
Though not much on thought
They have bled hard for all they've got
If good a pirate is
He keeps his shadows
Razor sharp his daggers
And in the end
Knows nothing matters
Black-eyed women
Raging fires made of logs
Both soothing and calm
Eye of a hurricane the same
Rare and not lasting long
Shimmers on the water
Message in a bottle
Back on the sand
Splotch made a daughter
Bleary dreary and fog
Might give cheer and lanterns turn on
But no measure is a pirate's pleasure
When running his dirty little fingers
Through another man's treasures
Such are the lyrics
Of a favorite pirate song!
I've seen graveyards of pirates
Lit up with lightning in the deep stormy night
With rain falling upon their sites
As the rain which once made the bodies of water
They once sailed
Out of me one eye
A tear doth fall
For every coffin nail
For it is I who am to blame
For each of these men being slain
In me quests for more treasure
For me own personal gain
The gusts upon the trees
Create sounds like me ship creaks
Sending shivers through me timbers
And makes me tattooed knees fell weak
I remember each face
As I lay a crow feather
Upon each final resting place
I pray oh Great Neptune
God of the Seas
Like driftwood carry these men's spirits
To your eternal shores
Where bon fires burn forever more
